Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Bilbao team in the Spanish league two and a half years after they moved out for construction to commence.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited with 45,401 fans will be allowed to watch as per the current authorization. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Recent Activities
Barcelona held a public practice on the home pitch earlier this month. The club said they are seeking authorization from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side on 9 December at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
