Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Tasks Are Overly Demanding

The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received broad praise, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, many players are expressing frustration over several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.

Players have started turning to personalized games created through Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how arduous these missions have become.

Grasping BF6 Assignments

Assignments are Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. It features four classes of assignments, but although many simply offer skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of acquiring a dozen out of forty-one primary weapons available in the game.

Several of these locked weapons may soon make their appearance on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash on Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This mission is so awful and completely out of mind, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it lacks nearly as many benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and functions solely at extremely close range, which is seldom the location you want to be. The commenter also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Overly Demanding Task

Another Reddit user pointed out a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with marksman guns

This is challenging enough by itself, but there's one more key thing to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, Mirak Valley, and perhaps Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.

The Workaround

Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it isn't truly in line with the spirit of the game.

Yet, if doing the challenges in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that harms both you and your squad, who can fault a player for finishing these in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?

Upcoming Tweaks

It is expected if several of these tasks are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, certain gamers simply won't get their hands on the locked firearms.

Currently, the audience continues to voice their opinions on these demanding multiplayer missions, hoping for a less arduous player experience in coming revisions.
