Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.
The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.
Police Reports Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles
The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
