Homages Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt prepared to express about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can now put my grief into words," shared Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started passing more hours together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, remarking that he cannot recall "one day without mirth".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a different essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles court official agreed to block the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate issued a restriction on the files to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of foul play, with a public database citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the killings, public personalities shared divergent comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing provocative claims that were widely condemned by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the those speaking out recently. Conversing on his program, Rogan characterized the statements as "disturbing" and suggested they showed a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by proposing that an adviser could have acted when the choice to weigh in on the passing was made.
