Plane Carrying US Defense Secretary Forced to Touch Down in UK Because of Fracture in Windshield
An aircraft carrying Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was compelled to make an emergency landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday after a crack was identified in the jet's front window, per an announcement which confirmed that the secretary was unharmed.
"The jet landed following standard protocol and all individuals on the flight, such as Secretary Hegseth, is unharmed," a spokesperson said in a social media post.
He was traveling back from a brief trip to the city of Brussels when the incident occurred.
This incident isn't the first time that a American defense plane carrying a senior official has suffered mechanical issues.
In a previous incident this year, a US Air Force plane transporting Marco Rubio to the city in Germany was compelled to return to the US capital after experiencing a mechanical fault.
