The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Is Here, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Beloved Titles
Similar to the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will feature once again of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release near the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his friends.
The company has a trio of new releases officially announced for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
