Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on Monday, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”
